At the ‘tender’ age of 78, Italian singer, songwriter, DJ and record producer Giorgio Moroder has announced his first ever world tour! Often cited as the 'Father of Disco' and frequently credited with pioneering Italo Disco and electronic dance music, Moroder has so far publicised 15 European dates as part of his 'The Celebration Of The '80s Tour'. He has already toured around the world as a DJ, but this is the first time he is heading out on tour in his long and storied career and what a show it proposes to be. With a full live band and vocalists, the maestro plans to be behind the piano, the vocoder, and some synths. He also hopes to be able to synchronise some of his set to Donna Summer performing on video. After all, Moroder did produce many of her biggest hits, such as 'Love To Love You Baby', 'I Feel Love', 'Last Dance' and 'On The Radio'. In fact throughout his career, his accreditations have just gone on and on; he has created a score of songs for many performers including David Bowie, Kylie Minogue, Irene Cara, Janet Jackson, Blondie and Japan. For two decades he didn't release any albums, but focused mainly on remixes and visual art during most of the 1990s and early 2000s. His last solo studio album, Déjà Vu, was released in 2015 and features collaborations with Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears, Sia, to name but a few. Mr Moroder is to play at the Auditorium Parco Della Musica in Rome on the 19th May (2019) – tickets will sell out fast!
