Bernini Exhibition In Rome

Dates: 01.11.17 - 04.02.18. Address: Galleria Borghese, 5 Piazzale Scipione Borghese, 00197 Rome, Italy.

The beautiful and elegant Galleria Borghese in Rome celebrates the 20th anniversary of its reopening with an exceptional exhibition dedicated to one of Italy’s most skilled and influential sculptors and architects, namely Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Born in Naples (1598), Bernini is often credited with creating the Baroque style of sculpture, along with the architect Francesco Borromini and the painter and architect Pietro da Cortona. Some of Bernini’s master pieces include the Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi (Fountain of the Four Rivers) at Piazza Navona, a life-size marble sculpture entitled David, as well as the Apollo and Daphne sculpture and the St. Peter's Baldachin, a large Baroque sculpted bronze canopy that is located over the high altar of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City. Although Galleria Borghese has always had nine of Bernini’s most famous masterpieces (five of which are immobile), the Bernini Exhibition provides visitors with a ‘full-length portrait’ of this great sculptor and his works, which also includes his paintings. A breathtaking exhibition that is a unique once-in-a-lifetime journey into the world of one of the most universal artists of all time - not be missed!
