Jean-Michel Basquiat Exhibition In Rome 2017

Date(s): 24.03.17 - 02.07.17. Venue: Chiostro del Bramante, Via Arco della Pace 5, 00186 Rome, Italy.

The Chiostro del Bramante in Rome pays tribute to Jean-Michel Basquiat, an iconic and controversial artist in New York culture during the late 1970s and throughout the 1980s, with its extensive exhibition that includes some of his most important works. From the 24th March to the 2nd July 2017, the Chiostro is presenting 'JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT. New York City (Works from Mugrabi Collection)', an impressive exhibition of the his works that have been chosen from the Mugrabi Collection; one of the world's largest collections of contemporary art. There are approximately 100 works on exhibition which include acrylics and oils, drawings, important collaborative works with Andy Warhol, silkscreen prints, and ceramics. All of these pieces were produced between 1981 and 1987, a period in which almost all of Basquiat's turbulent and anguished life and career unfolded. Unfortunately, Basquiat died in his art studio of a heroin overdose in 1988, at the age of just 27 years old.
